How long will a portable power station run your devices?
Watts describe a rate of use. Watt-hours describe stored energy. You need both figures to choose a station that can start the load and keep it running.
Use a transparent estimate
Estimated runtime in hours = rated battery Wh × usable fraction ÷ average load W. The usable fraction accounts for conversion and system losses; it is an assumption to test, not a universal specification.
For example, a 512Wh station at an illustrative 80% usable fraction supplies about 410Wh. At a steady 50W load that is roughly 8.2 hours. A 200W load reduces the same estimate to about two hours.
Check the load shape
A refrigerator cycles on and off and may need a higher starting surge than its average running draw. An inverter also consumes some energy while on. Measuring a representative day is more useful than dividing capacity by a single label figure.
Several devices add together at the output. The station must support the simultaneous continuous load and any relevant startup demand, even if the battery has enough energy for the desired hours.
Do not confuse capacity with a regional outlet
The energy calculation says nothing about AC voltage, frequency or connector type. Verify the exact US-compatible electrical variant before plugging in an appliance. An adapter changing the plug shape does not convert a 230V source into a 120V source.
Plan how energy returns
Solar charging depends on usable sun, panel output, controller limits and position. A 100W panel does not produce 100W continuously throughout the day. Start with a charged battery and compare the recharge path with daily consumption.
Use measured results from your own setup to refine the plan. Our product figures are documented catalog specifications, not runtime tests performed by ZeroGridGear.
